Mitchell McCarthy is a Brooklyn-based composer, orchestrator, and producer.

He has written music for small ensemble, large ensemble, solo piano, voice, and electronics, and has collaborated with a wide range of musicians across the United States and Europe. Recent premieres include performances at the Queen Elisabeth Hall (Antwerp), the Palais des Beaux-Arts (Brussels), The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall (New York City), and at the New World Symphony Center (Miami).

Mitchell’s collaborative work as an arranger, orchestrator, and producer includes recording sessions at Abbey Road Studios (London) and Avatar Studios (NYC), Hollywood Bowl performances by Kristin Chenoweth and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and critically-acclaimed stage works with the New York Theatre Workshop, The Little Orchestra Society, and the 92nd Street Y. Fall 2018 will see Mitchell’s fifth season with K/M•D/M, the contemporary ballet company he co-founded in 2012.

When he’s not in the studio, Mitchell can likely be found obsessing over the biochemical properties of a good hard cider and/or shooing his cat, Joséphine, off the piano.
